weird noise when driving?

hey guys got a quick question for you. Ok so when im driving my car and decide to punch it the car is suddenly kind of doggy and it makes a noise like a faint tick or knock i know its not an engine rod knocking. what is weird is that my dad had a siverado and i could notice that noise in his truck when i would drive that sometimes. to me it almost sounds like it could be a vaccume leak or maybe a bad coil pack. if anyone has had problems like this or anyone has any suggestions would you please let me know. i have had my 2000 camaro z28 for about a year and a half, noticed the sound a while ago but i really didn't pay much attention to it. thank you in advance.

Most likely what your hearing is detonation. Computer is pulling timing, which is why it feel sluggish. Pretty common in LS1 world. Usually caused by a lean condition. Lean condition could be caused by any number of things... Header install without a tune, clogged injector(s), clogged fuel filter, bad fuel pump, failing cat, bad O2's, oil contamination through the PVC system... the list goes on.

what kinda gas do u use regular or premium cuse it might be the gas u use to if that is regular

the lady i bought it from said all she ran in it was regular, so thats what i did. after reading some other posts i hear that happends a lot with regular so when i get home i will run some premium in it and see what happends.

Pretty good chance thats causing the detonation. Didn't even think to type that, I assumed everyone ran premium in their LS1! The stock compression is 10.1:1 after all.

detonation is a major problem if not fixed... bye bye pistons...
