    Weight savings

I am trying to see what it would take to get my car to right at 3000 lbs even or less if possible without drilling holes and without removing items such as radio, AC, insulation, wipers and seats etc, preferrably just replacing exhisting parts with lighter units. So far it weighs 3376 in full street trim. I still haven't removed the Air Pump yet (couple lbs most?). And I know I will save a bunch when I put the Welds on over those heavy a$$ ZR1's and 315 tires but anyone have a guess how much? Also how much lighter is a fiberglass hood over a standard Z hood. I know the Tubular K mambers save about another 75 Lbs. I'll probably also replace my torque arm with one of the shorter ones made onto a DS loop because the UMI Adjustable one was at least 3 times heavier than the factory one. Of those what other items could I possibly replace on my car and still keep it 100% street worthy as I still drive this car to work at least once a week on the weekends (50 miles one way).

I don't see how you are going to do this without ditching alot of the street stuff. The way I've seen people do it is by removing safety stuff like the side impact beams in the doors+ bumper stuff, front sway bar, A/C and heater, radio, cruise control and antilock and traction control stuff, lighter weight seats, remove back seat, lighter weight carpeting, removing sound insulation, emmissions conrol stuff, etc. All this stuff makes the car less street able of course. Removing any weight from anywhere will add up of course so even a few pounds here or there will help. I'd love to strip my car out for the increased performance, but I know the car will be less comfortable to drive. I have cars like that already so my Z stays the way it is.

Thanks for the link. Looks to me like most of that stuff is for track only cars.
