Sebring Silver Metalic- 2002 Camaro Z28
Weatherstripping, you will love this.
ok, so tropical storm Fay made it obvious my t-top weather stripping needs to be replaced.
here is my brilliant idea, until i can order parts that won't set me back a kidney or child.
I was thinking about using RTV? My wife said not the red-orange hi temp stuff. She asked does it come in black, sure.
At the rear or the t-top seal it seems to have started to recede some how. it's not cracked, or torn. Its just not the right size and shape any more. It has caused a small gap between the seal and glass.
I was thinking about putting painters tape or masking tape on the class. An then filling the gap with black RTV. This is just until I can find a could place to order from. I have already checked to stealerships and a sponsor. Of course the sponsor was cheaper.
My question is, what would RTV do to the rubber weatherstripping? I would think it wouldn't harm it at all. I'm not sure if it would bond right. What has me concerned is the chemicals used in RTV.
What do you guys think? After vacuuming out a giant puddle of water. I would like a temp fix until I can get new parts. My car stinks, and I would prefer to keep the water out.

Iv used rtv on plenty of cars as a temp fix and so customers even keep it as a perm. fix. Just make sure to get all of the water and garbage out and then goto town, You can use the black high temp rtv. I wouldnt worry about the tape but just apply the rtv..
Rtv is like Duck tape, a million uses

Lol Hey ya gotta do what ya gotta do, Being in the army for 6 years you learn about BDAR and making stuff happen...Zip ties, rtv, 100mph tape, and rachet straps can fix anything.

Put some dialectric grease on the weatherstrip and watch it swell.
