water pump need change too?
I have a 02 LS1 into my Nissan 240sx. Recently, I was driving on the freeway and I heard a weird noise under my hood..... my power steering pump pulley broke and the belt came off. When I realized, the temp gauge was on the "H" and it started to run like crap. I immediately turned my car off and pulled over to the side.
I changed out the P/S pulley but should I change out the water pump too? I heard if LS1 overheats, the water pump is trashed. No leak from weep hole nor around the gasket..... what you all think???? thanks for your help

I don't know the answer to your question. I just wanted to comment about a 240sx I saw here in Tracy (dark red). The guy pulled up next to me and his car sounded mean! The light changed and he lit 'em up and drifted sideways through the turn and fishtailed off into the distance...
I caught him at the next light and motioned for him to roll down his window. I said HOLY CRAP that car is fast. What's under the hood and he said a modded LS1!!! I figured it was some custom one off job...
I guess he's not the only LS1 240 guy out there...I'd say his car looked to easily be a low 12's car based on how fast he took off...
Very interesting setup indeed. I think I'm gonna start Googling now...

I would not change the pump now if it's not leaking. Some vehicles "dump" fuel to cool the engine when it reaches extreme temps. I would put a belt and P/S pump and keep an eye on it.
How about some pics of that thing. It sound bad ass.

thanks for the help and a compliment guys. I guess I'll keep an eye out it for a while and see what happens. Anyway, here are some pics of my car with LS1. I'm from SoCal and I only know 2 other people with LS1 in their 240sx..... I love the engine. Way better than my old turbo 4cylinder......
