    warranty on cat ?

    Hi Hey my code says bad cat and my car wont be 10 years till november is cats still under warranty or not I called the service dept and they ran my vin and said the warranty expired at 8 and 80.My car is a 2000 TA with 73000 miles

    Special Coverage Adjustment - Catalytic Converter Extended Warranty
    # 05513 - (11/27/2006)

    Models:
    2000-02 CHEVROLET CAMARO
    2000-02 PONTIAC FIREBIRD

    EQUIPPED WITH 5.7L V8 (RPO LSI - VIN G) ENGINE

    Condition

    Some customers of 2000-02 Chevrolet Camaro and 2000-02 Pontiac Firebird model vehicles, equipped with a 5.7L V8 (RPO LSI - VIN G) engine, may experience a failure of the left or right catalytic converter.

    Special Coverage Adjustment

    This special coverage covers the condition described above for a period of 10 years or 120,000 miles (193,000 km), whichever occurs first, from the date the vehicle was originally placed in service, regardless of ownership. The repairs will be made at no charge to the customer.

    For vehicles covered by Vehicle Service Contracts, all eligible claims with repair orders on or after November 27, 2006 are covered by this special coverage and must be submitted using the labor operation codes provided with this bulletin. Claims with repair orders prior to November 27, 2006 must be submitted to the Service Contract provider.

    So whats my options here,I mean she went to her gm pc and punched my vin and said it wasnt covered .What should my next course of attack be?I wonder if they even want to do service work right now with GM declaring bankruptcy.

    Call another dealership or contact GM customer service. The 8/80 was the original federal emissions warranty.

    Sadly now demodded :(

    I got a letter about this back in 05 or 06 for my 02. It extended the warrenty to 10 yrs/120K miles.

    Sometimes you have to make those dealerships work. You should surely be able to have it replaced though.

    this happened to me first dealership where I know the head man rejected doing the replacement went to another dealership they did the $1500

    job free orginal warrenty is 8 years or 80K.

    2 new cats and Y-pipe.

    I called another dealer and this one said my vin was covered.I dont think they be as good to me as they were to you though.<both cats and a y pipe.Ill probably get my drivers side cat and then in november at 10 years my passenger side goes out.

    I posted a reply to another thread. However I had the passenger side catalytic converter replaced on my 2002 Z28 today at my GM dealer in Canada under this extended warranty due to a P0430 code.

    They were originally going to charge me for the repair until I mentioned the bulletin number (#05513) and they looked it up and confirmed it was covered.

    I also had the driver side converter replaced a couple years ago when the car was still under the 3 year/60,000 km factory warranty. (P420 code)

    Does anyone know if the replacement cats they are using now are any better than the ones installed at the factory? Or if the ones installed at the factory were defective and that has been corrected since then?
