My auto 2.73 gear'd Z got high 20's stock. Added K&N Lid, free mods and highest I got was 31 MPG on a trip to daytona. Mods that "free" horsepower will increase mileage as long as you keep your foot out of it.

lets pretend they had equal power. if i liked them equally id go with the camaro
Thats exactly why i want a LS1, i KNOW that MPG and fast cars dont go hand in hand, but if im gunna get a fast car why not get the one that gets fair gas mileage?

Hell being 19, im sure the insurance on a camaro wont be exactly easy on the wallet as is lol.

Wow thats not bad lol, that doesn't seem to be the norm from what people are saying though lol. Silly question, but usually doesn't stick get better MPG than auto?

not really actually.. same engine... just slightly diff specs... mine has a slightly smaller cam, but from what i understand bigger lifters so it makes it compensates there with worse mpg... the older ones just simply had a higher cam and from what i hear better mpg, but then again with years they get worse mpg as well

I just got mine two weeks ago and have been averaging 18-19mpg without much highway driving and a few WOT runs. It's 99 SS 6spd mostly stock just an SLP lid, K&N and SLP LM exhaust. My 95z28 A4 got around the same with 25mpg on highway. The mileage isn't bad on these cars for what they are but don't expect 20mpg or over in city driving.

Well the sticker says 19mpg on the streets and 21 on the highway. But of course that depends on how you drive. Last week I spent $120 on gas. Gas is so frekin high now I drive my dad's 4 banger Tacoma to work. $3.67 for 91 is outrageous.

22mpg is that city or highway?

also, what mods can be done to increase MPG a little bit?

I am about to make a round trip from south Texas to Virginia...so I am going to put the gas mileage to the ultimate test. Thank goodness I just got my oil changed...I usually get 24-26 highway...21 mixed...and 18 city

Keep your foot out of it (no "jackrabbit" starts, shift early (if M6), keep the tires at the correct pressure at all time (hint: tires tend to lose 1-2 psi per month) and insure the tune is good.

I can get much better gas mileage than I currently do as I have a custom "lean cruise mode" tacked on over the custom tune program. It allows for a leaner cruise fuel program to to take over pcm duties when I'm going more than 25mph for more than 45 seconds. This works best on the hiway at steady speeds (cruise control). When I press the throttle the regularly scheduled racing tune reassumes it's perogative. Don't ask me for details. Although I have a 2002 license for HPTuners, my buddy is the computer whizz that does the programming. I was the guinea pig for this so I got it for free. I know he charges others for this but I don't know how much. He also has this on his 01 WS6 and claims an increase in gas mileage of 10% over the factory tune at 2500 rpm.
