video surveillance
My car has been jacked with now twice in the last week while I was working... Very frustrating and I don't know of anyone I have issues with; so I have nowhere to start with looking for suspects. I am curious about security video systems... I did some research..found several, but to be feasible the system would have to record 7-8 hours or have motion-based record. I found one system which cost $1500. Wondering if anyone has a cheaper solution? Wouldn't it be great to have a digitally based video surviellance security system??? Know who fucked with your car! Anyone here using a system like this?

Cheaper would be better, but it would be worth $1500.00 to catch the assholes!

have a few friends hide in a car nearby. when you catch him break both his hands. tell him if he touches your car again you will break both feet next.

I had mine broken into but they could steal anything because my car alarm went off as soon as they opened the door. You can get a black widow system that goes off as soon as a door is opened, except for the drivers side which waits about 5 seconds. Not too expensive. It might also help to try and put a car alarm sticker on the windows.

I have a two way paging alarm...they didn't break into it. They threw eggs on it one night and soda or something last night...

or knock out a couple front teeth. that is a real attention getter!
the only system I could think of is something that turns on to motion. Something like a cheap night vision so you could catch them in the act and they wouldn't know it. Is it parked on your private property or is it at apartments? also, if your windows are dark as mine (5%) you could hide in your car.
anybody got any links to their alarm system sites?

Wifi web cam. I did some research about 2 years ago when I was having problems. I believe there are 1 or 2 out there that are also motion activated.

Why do you need a motion activated one? Just buy a DVD-Camcorder with some good zoom and recording time. You dont need NV since its a lit parking lot. And try to check your car a few times a night, so you'll have an idea of when it happened instead of lots of fast-forwarding. Oh, and record with sound disabled, that takes much less memory.
Plus, you'll have a sweet camcorder after all is said and done.

That would work for this incident since i know when it might happen, but it would be nice to have a system like the link so that you could catch someone in a random one time incident.

Hide in the bushes with a "good" BB gun w/ a scope. Pick just one guy and aim for the torso, hit 'em a few times then chase them down (without the BB gun of course) and "sub-due" them. Call the cops.
I use X10 to watch my house. Google it, they will have what your looking for. Good prices too.
