VATS or clutch switch

Ok, 2002 Camaro SS M6

occasionally it will not start when key is turned. I generally stomp on the clutch a few times, then try it, then wiggle the key and try it, then stomp on the clutch and wiggle the key and try it, curse, then try some other combination of the aformentioned processes and it will start. The battery and alturnator are fine. The car has 106k on the clock. It seems to be unrelated to temperature or anything else, almost entirely random. The lights and radio still come on with the key turned which makes me lean toward a clutch switch.

my key is slightly worn, but I don't consider it excessive. Is there a way to check either problem out to verify if it is the cause without too much trouble?

If your lights and radio still come one I would go with clutch switch. When I had an issue with my vats nothing worked period all I got was the security light would come on and nothing else would happen. No lights no clicking like a dead bat nothing at all just the security light would come on for 2min then go out then I could try to start it again.

is the security light on? If no then it's not VATS.
