valvetrain ticking?
recently did h/c/i swap. 228r cam put dual valve springs, ti retainers, chromoly pushrods, ls7 lifters,ls2 lifter trays. ive been drivin the car for a couple days but just today when i drove it the valvetrain started ticking. i thought it was the exhasut that i put on bc it has a small leak as well but i opened the hood and its comin from the valvetrain. not sure what it is, i know you can get lifter tick but thats usually in older cars and they start to stick. my whole valvetrain is all new except for the rockers. any suggestions?

aftermarket valvetrain will almost always give you the sewing machine sound...however are you sure you set the lashing correctly on the rocker arms ? if the RAs are loose they will tick and rattle a little

Did you measure the pushrod length?? Im 99.5 percent sure the ls7 has a different preload than the stock lifters and require a different length.
I would check into this

basically the ls7 plunger is .050 higher then the ls1s.. if your running stock heads then they will be fine according to GM since they are considered a direct replacement...but if your not stock..milled etc then new pushrods are needed to set the proper preload..so both joshie and i are right

"keep im mind the ls7 lifters plunger is .050 higher than the old ls1 lifters to keep the same preload you had you will have to run .050 shorter pushrod"
Hell yeah son!
Also, the headgasket can affect pushrod length. ALWAYS check them

I am using afr heads and pushrod length is correct 7.350. I think the ticking is mostly on driver side. Mechanic will re adjust next week.
