Exclamation Two Regular Problems, Help! trans mount & smog line

    Hey yall,

I have a 1996 Trans Am, and I keep having the same two problems. I have replaced the rubber hose that goes from the air check valve back into the exhaust about 5 times in the past 2 years. It is located on the passenger side of the engine on top of the engine. The air just is so hot it burns through any hose I put on there. Is there a metal replacement that you can buy? If so where can I buy it and what is it called?

Also, I have busted my transmission mount for the 2nd time while doing a burnout. Is there a metal replacement and where can I buy it?

Those are my only 2 problems. If you play, you must pay.

    Thanks!

yes...you hafta change the check valve, that keeps the hot air out of that hose....they're less than 20 bux and they sell them at AutoZone. etc, if you don't wanna get one from the dealer...

did you try a polyurethane trans mount? i put one in my IROC after blowing 2 stock ones and never had another problem...

So the reason it keeps burning out is because the air check valve needs to be replaced?

Yep its the check valve. As said above, you should probably replace it with a ployurethane. You would not want to replace it with a metal one uless you were going to replace your engine mounts also. Otherwise your engine would torque and move and your transmission would stay which would result in damaging something like cracking your bell housing...
