    Turns Signal Switch Replacement! Help!

Hi! My turn signal switch broke somehow the other day, nothing happens when you flick it left or right (there is no 'snap' or 'click' or resistance in the movement). All the other functions on the lever still work, but somewhere at the base something is loose/broken/all effed up. Has anyone else ever had this happen? I searched the threads and didn't find much other than basic responses. Does anyone know what most likely went awry or even better yet how to dismantle the steering wheel/column to get to it without killing one's self? Thanks!

You'll need to pull the steering wheel off to fix it. Unplug the battery, then at the base of the steering collum where your feet go, unplug the yellow conectors, Air bags. Then you have to unscrew the airbag pull it off. Then take out the bolts for the steering wheel. Use a puller to pull the steering wheel. Right under that is the Turn signal/cruise control box. Unbolt and replace. Install in reverse order. Hope this helps.

Sounds like a real PITA just to get to the turn signal/cruise control box.

Icrazy you make it sound easy, I hope it is since GM will charge me $230 for the labor and $212 for the switch assembly. I kind of hope it just came unscrewed somehow, but until I get it apart I can't even tell that. I have done my own headlight and window motors with the help of instructions I found posted on LS1, that has saved me gosh knows how much. The main diff here I think is that if I goof this up the steering wheel blows up....
