Is it tuned?
Alright so i bought my 98 z28 m6 last year.
The skip shit is turned off and the governor as well
Does it require a tune to turn off the skip shift and what not?

yes..or you can get a thing to plug in that eliminates it...but the usually is getting it tuned...and if your governor is upped then yes you got yourself a tune

Custom Swirly Black- 2001 WS6 M6
I have heard this as well, in fact, it takes a GPS device to get a good idea of how fast your going.
There's a plug and play eliminator for the skip shift, as well as a cheap alternative too, aside from tgetting the car tuned.
These may help to see if you have the cheap version, or the $30 version skip shift. (if neither is present, I would assume you have a tune)
Cheap skip shift eliminated.
SLP skip shift eliminator.

I went and talked to the lady who sold it to me just now.
Her husband is the one who drove it and everything but he has been in prison which is why the car got sold.
But she will be giving me a call when she gets a phone call from him either today or tomorrow i kind of home it doesn't have a tune so i can just just do the one i want.

Where are you at where you can drive 160+ MPH for 30 seconds? Seems kind of foolish to me.

Phantom Black Metallic- 2004 GTO M6
When I bought my car, the skip-shift was off. I had mine tuned and I found out the previous owner had installed an eliminator. I pulled out the eliminator and tossed it as the tune disabled it...and it was burnt.

It's programmed into the computer at the factory to keep you from shifting from 1st to 2nd at speeds under...I THINK...40mph. Any speeds under than that, the computer prohibits you shifting from 1st to 2nd and instead, you shift 1st to 4th. It's to conserve fuel. BAH!!!

And on the GTO and I think Vette, there is a light that reads "1->4" on the dash when you shift.
