Try to figure this out
In august of last summer i replaced the MAF after the car was stalling in neutral (M6), reving itself out in neutral, car would go to 3k RPMS then 500. If the car was in gear same thing would happen, replaced the fuel filter and checked the fuel pressure. Both were fine and it turned out to be the MAF........so i thought. I replaced the MAF in august and havent had a problem since..... until now, driving the car to work in a little traffic, doing 20 MPH and the car starts revving itself again. 3500 RPMS!!!! Then drives fine for a little. Then boggs down. Eventually when i got off the parkway the car totally shut off doing 30 MPH and when i tried to restart it it would start for 2 seconds and shut right off. Did this about 5 times before it would stay running. I cant figure it out. The car was away for the winter from november till april and ive drivin it about 100 miles since i took it out. Since I replaced the MAF the car has about 500 miles on it and 20k in total. Any ideas???

Here,try this:http://www.aa1car.com/library/problem_idle_surge.htm
IAC is part of throttle body on our cars I believe.I'm sure someone on here has more specific knowledge on this subject-just trying to point you in the right direction.Hope this helps!

Try pulling your IAC motor off and cleaning it.. Just use some brake cleaner or MAF cleaner on it.
Any codes?
I attached a pic of where the IAC motor is.

Im guna check that out, my dad said something might be sticking on the throttle body but i wasnt sure what. Its raining right now in NY so i cant check it now but ill deff. look into it. The weirdest part is there's no codes. Any reason why this sticks, and its weird its the SAME EXACT symptoms from august when i replaced the MAF and the car ran fine until now. Thanks for the input.

My TPS sensor would do this at random and cause my converter to do the lock/unlock dance.. and my IAC right now does it at random. I will be at a light at hot idle and it will go from like 650 to like 1100. I rev it up and it goes away. Does it like once every 3 months. Really wierd. Hasnt done it since i cleaned it with carb cleaner.
Point im trying to make is no codes were thrown for the IAC and it took the TPS over two weeks to throw a code.

check the things that these guys have recommended along with vacuum leaks such as the pcv hose going into the intake. Also take a look at your throttle cable itself and make sure it's not sticking. One other thing that I've heard of happening too and it may sound silly but it happens.....make sure your floor mat isn't getting up on the pedal.

Probably tps. Happened to my 98 ta. Didn't through a code either. I found out by back probing sensors using a multimeter.
