Trouble with wipers on 2000 Z28

    Hi,

My wipers have gotton worse in operation over the recent months. The issue was they won't always come on in any of the delay positions. They would come on in HI, and will operate in WASH. Now they won't come on in any delay mode and not even on HI always. If used in WASH, they never go all the way down either.

Any thoughts on which component would be the issue, as well as where it's location is?

    Thanks!

Could be the motor or switch.

Try disconnecting the connector to the washer pump up front and see if the wipers work the way they should. If they work fine, it's the wiper switch in the turn signal stalk. If they don't, it's probably something in the motor.

    Hey,
when i turned off my wipers last night, they went completely vertical and stopped. as if the off position has been switched with the up position.
i have played around with the switch in all position, they all work fine. but the off position keeps going back to vertical and stopping.

any ideas on how to fix this?? thanks

try this first if you haven't tried it yet....I've read people having this as a problem on several occassions.

No, the problem remains the same. Wipers work fine at all settings, it's only when turned to the Off position that the problem is evident--the (!@*&%$!) wipers are in the vertical position. Weird.

Anyone else out there dealt with this?

The only thing I can really offer is my experience with my truck. My wipers would do that and all sorts of crazy things like not shut off at all when you turn them off and come on by themselves and things like that. I took the cover off the "brain box" for the wipers and found that where the plug plugs into the board it had cracked across a solder joint or two right there.

So, did you re-solder it and that solved the problem?

yeah, resoldered those joints and fixed my issues. I'm not sure if the f-bodies have that same issue. I've never read anywhere that they did. I think most of the time on the f-bodies it's in the stalk.

By 'stalk' do you mean the turn-signal/wiper/cruise-control lever?

this problem has happened twice now. the first time i moved the wiper stalk setting from delay to fast to off, and it went back to normal after a few tires. but the next time it rained(yesterday) and its messed up again. it wont turn off now.
i feel like such a dork driving with them vertical, that i leave it on the slowest delay and put up with it! lol im glad its almost winter so i can park it for the season and fix it.

did you have any luck with replacing the stalk? how much is it to replace it?

Haven't attempted anything yet with it... hoping someone else on here has had this problem on their F-body and fixed it.

    So, anyone?

Do you guys know whats the easiest way to lube the bushings on the wipers? Mine squeek really bad at the edge of the window and at the bottom of the window. Thought it was the wipers but after operating them with them lifted in the upright position i think its time for some spray lube.
