Transmission slipping now engine wont run...
well today i was driving to town and all of a sudden the tranny went to 3rd, and would not shift into od. while i was driving around town it seemed to stall up alot more than normal (I have a 3600 stall) but still drove, then when i was leaving town from a red light it shifted to 2nd then the rpms went up. and nothing, i pulled over to look under the hood and under the car, when i went to leave it started back fireing when i gave it gass, now it wont run at all. it seems as if the tranny died the engine would still run fine, are theese problems connected or do i have two problems that occured at the same time. If you have any ideals please chime in i dont even know where to start.

i would start with the engine first. does the engine turn over? i know that people who have had alt problems have noticed their a4's have started to act up as well as their engines. Like i said i would start with the engine first. good luck

like i said it could be a alt problem that caused the pump to go out and the tranny to act up. start with the pump.

I would check for power and ground to the pump using a test light while cranking the engine before just throwing a pump at it. Maybe even check for codes

yeah if you can get to the fuel tank harness where it plugs into the electrical passthrough forward of the rear axle. Its the gray and black wires.

now what
I changed the fuel pump today, 60 psi, all good there, engine runs again, took it to the road and i could tell it was slipping in od, it wouldnt go into lock up.
After the trans got to 150 deg. it quit pulling all together, which would make me believe that the tranny is gone, but when the transmission quit pulling the engine started cutting out.
I wasnt on the revlimiter or anything about 4k it would just bogg down, then i peddled it and the engine came back to life but the transmission wouldnt do anything, now what do i need to look at??
