    Transmission and Engine Identification

Does anyone know of a website that you can enter a transmission identification and find out what year the transmission came out of? Same with engines.

    Welcome to the site!

As posted, there is no universal engine identification site that I am aware of. However, within each brand and model year range there are sites that contain useful information, hence the follow up question. If it is an LS engine, I have several books that contain "all the numbers" and would be happy to look it up for you.

If I could even find individual sites, for ford, chevy. dodge, honda etc. That would show a simple site. I have quite a few engines, that I am not sure what year they came out of, but can find markings on them, but cant find any types of site to decode these numbers.. Someone would make a mint if they sold a book with this information.

Yeah, no luck on that one once you add the foreign stuff into the mix. Here's a great Car Craft article on engine spotting: Junkyard Engine Spotter's Guide - Car Craft All Pages

You aren't going to find one site or one book to decode all of that. You would have to get several books and check several sites to find the info.
