Transmission and Engine Identification

Does anyone know of a website that you can enter a transmission identification and find out what year the transmission came out of? Same with engines.

Welcome to the site!

As posted, there is no universal engine identification site that I am aware of. However, within each brand and model year range there are sites that contain useful information, hence the follow up question. If it is an LS engine, I have several books that contain "all the numbers" and would be happy to look it up for you.

If I could even find individual sites, for ford, chevy. dodge, honda etc. That would show a simple site. I have quite a few engines, that I am not sure what year they came out of, but can find markings on them, but cant find any types of site to decode these numbers.. Someone would make a mint if they sold a book with this information.
