TransGo
So I've been reading about it on its website and on the forums here, and I wanted to see if I got this correct...
TransGo is a kit that will allow you to shift with the 1 2 3 gears on a automatic without damaging anything?? It wont downshift if in 2nd or 3rd without me doing it?
Cause if so
Edit: Sorry if this is in the wrong section, but I wasn't getting any answers on the other forum.2014 Camaro: Check. 2SS: Check. 1LE: Check. 6 Speed manual? CHECK

Transgo is just a company
They make shift kits but what you are describing is a manual valve body and yes you are correct that is the basics of it

Sounds like the HD3, a full manual valve body.... I just took a 4L60e out of my car that had the FMVB. I'm going to a 4L80e now with the HD-2 to back this new 6L. From the way I understand the HD-2, you can manually select the gears or just put it in OD and go.

It sounds great... and I bet it's much cheaper to do than a full tranny swap.
Do you know how much it'll cost me to do? and how reliable the whole thing is?
By the end of the summer i'm hoping i'll have my LT's and high flow cats installed, followed by a tune by Frost. I know I need a tune to get it to work, so i'll most likely get it done through him as well.
Do you mind telling me the transmission name for the auto 02 WS6's??
Sorry for all the questions, but I really think this'll be a fun mod for someone who just can't seem to get his hands on a manual car!

The kit will up your line pressure so you will have to let friday know when he does your tune. while your in there look into a corvette servo swap as well. have you installed a trans cooler yet?

ups the line pressure; noted, thank you.
I looked at what you were talking about. The corvette servo goes for much cheaper than the name implies, thank god for that! I haven't screwed with anything in the car performance-wise. Just the Borla catback exhaust set-up. I don't have a tranny cooler but if it's like 50 bucks I'll definitely get one.
I don't know what i'm getting myself into here; is all of this a rather simple thing to do? We don't have to mess with the tranny fluids, or disassemble or drop it do we? I mean I'll only do this if I can get it done all in all for less than $5-600.

Before you look into anything else I suggest a tranny cooler. It's a fairly simple install and will keep your transmission cooler which means extended life from it.

Off the top of my head, yes. As far as tranny coolers, the bigger the better. Besides that just be sure to swap out the filter and gasket. And to answer your question earlier the transmission is a 4l60e

Tranny Cooler, Corvette Servo, Transgo 4L60E-HD2, Filter, and gasket. Man this seems like a lot of work lol

Might as well put a stall converter on that list and put a real smile on your face

B&M makes nice ones, never heard anyone complain about em
filter and gasket are serviceable parts you can get at any auto parts store.
Here's a good writeup you can turn to if you're doing the work yourself

I think i'll skip out on the stall man, those things are expensive. All I need is the corvette servo for the fun of shifting anyway right? I'll look into B&M for the trans cooler, and than i'll just get the other stuff from checker I guess (excluding the Transgo kit). Thanks for all your help!! Idk if i'll be doing it myself, it seems like alot of hard work for a guy who isn't 100% confident in doing these things himself.
EDIT: Wait a sec, if I do the TransGo HD2 kit, i wont need a tune right?.. so should I just get a tune to do the 1, 2, 3, D for manual driving?? Which ones the better option If I don't want to f*ck up my tranny?Last edited by Guerrillakilla13; 05-21-2012 at 04:58 PM.

Youll need a tune for the TransGo HD-2 and I think for the TransGo3 kit. I recommend taking the transmission to someone who has dealt with installing shift kits before.

Good idea., IDK what to do in that case though, cause If i'm getting longtubes and am in need of a tune for that, I might as well wait til I have enough to do both at the same time. HD2 kit is probably the one I'm going to get, because It can downshift too and I don't know too much about the TransGo3 kit lol

Okay guys after some research this is what I came up with;
-B/M Transmission Cooler (how much BTU do you think is the most practical?) .. $54-99 depending on the answer
-TransGO 4L60E Shift Kit .. $109
-Corvette Servo 4L60E 700r4 .. $13
-Filter and Gasket .. like $10-20
-Tune from frost (150 thank god for all Bolt ons, hope that means LT's AND shiftkit ) $150
How does all of that sound?

right, but I wasn't sure which would do the job. I wouldn't be too thrilled with spending an extra 100 for a tranny cooler if all I need is a $60 one.
Tatertot, I seriously can't express how appreciative I am of your consistent help you as well 95cam
