    trans am exhaust clearances

I am in the final stages of my engine rebuilding and have a question about the exhaust configuration from 98 to 2002. will a 2002 exhaust manifold, aftermarket, fit into the 98. reason I ask is I have built the motor to 2003 ls6 spec's without the egr and want to order shorty headers for a 2000 to 2002 that will bolt to catted Stainless Steel Works y pipe. I am assuming that the only difference should be no provision for the egr. Am I correct in my thinking?
Thanks for the help in advance.

The 2000 model year has the EGR. I know mine has it. From what I have read on LS1.Com, shorty headers aren't really worth the money. Good luck with your build.

    +1

Get long tubes. The performance gains from shorties are dismal at best.

From what I've read you are correct. You can get headers without the EGR, or if not, you can always put on block off plates.

    98 T/A w/a little mods...

You still live in FL, Go with LT's and ORY. I have deleted the EGR/Air and Cats, no issues, except need to get the PCM reprogram to tune out the rear O2.
