    Tranny Problem...?

For the past two years when i'd go down the highway I'd hit the gas and my RPM's would shoot up and the MPH would slowly go up, I would have to slam the gas and so called "pop it out" and then it would drive just fine, this only happened about twice a month, well its happening alot more now, when it shifts into second going 30-40 it does the same thing and when I try to "pop it out" it works but does the same shit seconds later, I brought my car to a tranny shop and they said it would probably need a rebuild for $2200-$2400 dollars! The guy at the shop then checked my tranny fluid and said it was a little dark, and something might be burning out, I'm just wondering if anything else could be causing this, could a dirty TB or sensor be the cause of this problem, or does it sound like strait tranny problem, any input would be great, i'm supposed to drop the car off tommorrow and just wanna make sure im not being jerked around, any input would be great I need it THANKS - Jason
