Well... Certainly wouldn't be my first choice. I took the whole gauge case apart hoping i could pull the bulb or disconnect a wire but it's all on a circuit board and there isn't an easy way to get to it without breaking anything. Is there a way to change/adapt the wiring on the switch so that it won't trip the light?

You can get it tuned out if you know someone with HPTuners. You could probably get a local tuning shop to turn it off for you too.

dumb question..but ive heard...that...the brakes will actually apply (rear) if under heavy non traction situations..is this true?

Yes. Here's an excerpt from the Firebird manual:

    "Traction Control System (Option)
Your vehicle may have a traction control system that
limits wheel spin. This is especially useful in slippery
road conditions. The system operates only if it senses
that one or both of the rear wheels are spinning or
beginning to lose traction. When this happens, the
system reduces engine power (and works the rear
brakes on V8 engine vehicles) to limit wheel spin.
    This light will come on
    when your traction control
    system is limiting wheel
    spin. See “Low Traction
    Light” in the Index. You
may feel or hear the system
    working, but this is normal.
The traction control system may operate on dry roads
under some conditions, and you may notice a reduction
in acceleration when this happens. This is normal and
doesn’t mean there’s a problem with your vehicle.
Examples of these conditions include a hard acceleration
in a turn, or an abrupt upshift or downshift."

Try jacking your car and putting on all four stands.. then start it and put it in gear... if you leave the TCS on.. it will actually stall the car... cause the rear wheels are moving faster than the fronts.. causing the engine to try funky shit.. took us the longest time to finger that one out...

My 02 has a factory installed bypass. You need a special tool to opreate it though, but most of us are born with it. It's called a finger . You just reach out to the button and push it. What's the big deal?

If possible I would like to reverse the switch or if it is easier just disable the "warning" light. That way I don't have some light staring me in the face.

SLP makes a device that makes it allready disabbled when you start the car. And the light is not that annoying! Mine is on all of the time!
