Back on topic, I've hit 145 in mine but that was fast enough, I guess I'm gettting old. I'm too worried about hitting something or getting locked up, or a tire failing.

My gixxer is supposed to top out at 180-somethin, but i swear it rolled over 200 on a long stretch of hwy 11 in SC. I was accused of lying, but my buddy said he was doin over 150 & i was running away from him quick. Maybe a speedo issue, then again...

you can figure a 3mph higher reading than actual at 60mph.....so you were still rolling fast as hell

    Exactly.

It only tells you your theoretical top speed in each gear based on gear ratio, not how fast the car will actually go.

Isn't topping these out part of regular maintenance? Thought I saw that in the manual...
im pretty sure GM could never get away with telling buyers to do almost tripple the speed limit! lol

I had my TA pinned twice on the same ride up to the poconos in PA. There were 2 open stretches over bridges where I could see far enough ahead that there were no troopers. Risky and stupid but had to give it a run once in my life. This was about 2 years ago.

I had mine at 160 in 5th at about 5,500 rpm and it was still pulling but I couldnt tell how much faster I was going so I slowed back down, and I still had 700rpm in 5th, and 6th to go!

had my ss to 147 and my R1 to 178. its the 0 -170 and back down in like 20 seconds that'll make you pee a little! I sold the r1. I chose life!! So the other day I got on the freeway beside this guy on an '09 CBR and we both took off to the merge point and as he kicked my ass I just grinned and thought, "ya' but i'll out live you"!!

Just because my obsessive side makes me need to tell you this I'll throw in that 254km/h=158mph and 168mph=270km/h

    The conversion factor is 1.609

Damn, all you guys are way crazier than me.

I have had my TA up to 125 MAYBE 130 and started to shut it down. I just dont have the balls I guess. I REALLY like my 0 80-90 MPH grunt. After that I see no point in going faster. Especially if I have my girlfriend or someone else in my car. I have definitely hit 120 a bunch of times. But thats about it. Dont know if I will ever want to take it to 150.

Love me a 0-90 grunt though.
