2005 Mustang/2008 Viper- 98 & 01 Trans-Am WS6
throttle stuck at 3500 rpm (Help)
I have a 01 trans -am ws6 and I was coming home on the highway and the car decided it wanted to do 75 or so and had to keep braking to slow down, had to shut the car down at lights.
I checked the throttle cables and they were fine, looked in the throttle body and it looked ok, I did notice that my cruise control is not working but can't figure out where it is under the hood or is it mechanical or electrical, could this be stuck? any information would sure help.
thanks

Make sure the carpet isn't under the gas pedal when you mash it to the floor.
Common thing to happen.

no gas pedal stuck here, If I start the car up it starts idling at 3500 rpms, throttle cables work fine, gas pedal works fine.

pull the plug from the iac motor. turn the key foward but dont turn it on. leave it on for about a minute, turn the key off, plug it back in and see if it restarts your iac position. what mods does the car have?

Check the hose going to the PCV, if it is cracked to where it can make a car ideal high. I had it happen to me. just my .02 cents

reset the pcm manualy, clears codes gives a few things a fresh start makes everything run thru its check systems, if it throws a code then you will no what it is

Not too sure but check too see if there is a fuse for the cruis, if so pull it, also disconnect your cruise cable and see if it fixes the issue.

It might be the iac, I disconnected it and did what you said and when I started it idling was fine then it slowly started creaping up to 2500 rpm and stayed there, then I shut it down.
I also disconnected the ground battery to reset the pcm and I connected it , started and ran fine again then it started to rise and went to 2500 rpms and stayed there, shut it down.
iac?

Hmm thats odd, you can try removing your iac valve and cleaning it, but if you said your cc went out at the same time i would look into that. On the passenger side of the engine bay, right behind the battery theres a lil black box, push the tabs in a lift cover off. Then pull on ur throttle and see if the gears are moving and all is well. I would take off my intake bellow and look inside too also make sure its not stuck open...
How many miles are on the ride? Is it an a4?

"Iac" Idle Air control
Controls the amount of air entering the throttle body by moving in and out. Its what lets your car idle without killing the motor.
