well not really. The opening in the intake is only so big. I'm not sure a bigger TB will even fit on a stock intake without a spacer/adapter.

yeah the intake is probably 78mm. I'd recommend a ported and polished stock TB.

What up 98maro.....I also have a 98 & if I WERE YOU I would forget this whole idea of a different TB and save your money for a LS6 intake!!!!!! The stock Throttle Body will be more than sufficient. The LS6 intake will wake your car up in the upper rpm's and will net you more useable power as you continue to upgrade.......just my .02

Yep! That's a much better plan.......the LS6 intake will give you MORE USEABLE power just as a bolt-on......+ it increases power even more when you upgrade w/cam/lt's etc..........any other questions just let me know.......As 98's we need to get as much power out of the early design as possible......

True dat. Thanks for your help bro. So you got an ls6 on yours? What did you do with the EGR?

Well, I just yanked it off & had my ride tuned properly. Tuning got rid of my emissions & AIR so I'm all set. Here in AZ emissions testing is pretty mild. All they do is plug into the port and if there is no SES light, you pass. There is no checking for cats, EGR, etc......... HOWEVER because YOU live in CA, you have no choice I believe BUT to purchase a used SLP EGR LS6 intake w/the EGR provision............

You are lucky bro. Here u get pulld over first thing they do after they ask you for the licence. Check the engine. Look under the car n see the exhaust n if they see somethin dnt like or no cats they send you to inspection to the highway patrol place. Hate dat. Ihavnt take mine cuz I havnt get pulld over.... Yet lol. But I seen all that on my friends cars. Dat suxs
And I been lookin for a used one bt it's kinda hard to find.
Is it the one for 01 02 camaro ss intake? Or I'm wrong?

Yeah. 98-2000 has the LS1 intake. 01-02 has the LS6 intake.
Adding a LS6 intake will help with HP and any future upgrades. However, since you live in California, you have to get the LS6 intake with the EGR as previously mentioned. You cannot use a regular LS6 intake without the EGR and still be smog legal where you live I don't think.
