For those who live in New York

I am looking into purchasing a 2004 Cobra. The owner lives in Medford NY (I think its in Long Island). I want a good shop to check the car over and do a compression test and leak down test. I want something close by so he can drive the car there. Any1 know hoe long a compression/leak down test takes. I know the car has to cool to pull the spark plugs out, but was just curious.

Pretty sure the car has to be warm to run a compression test so the oil is warmed up and you get proper ring seal, etc. I don't know what the rule of thumb is for how many times you should crank the engine per spark plug hole, but I thought 5-10 times. Therefore, I wouldn't think it would take that long at all.

How about taking it to Mustang Magic? Pretty popular mustang tuning/installation shop in the LI area. I don't think its far from medford.

Why don't you just do it yourself since it isn't that involved?

If the current owner won't let you do it, maybe he knows something isn't right with the car.

PS - 03/04 Cobras are sweet.

I would do it, but I dont think he would feel comfortable if I did it. I know I wouldnt let some 23yr old kid pop open my hood and pulling out plugs/wires. Maybe ill ask him if he wants to do it. Im just confused because I really like this car but I dont wanna buy a lemon. The only comforting thought is that he has another 5 laying around in his driveway along with a couple mach 1's.
