Temperature Gauge
The temperature gauge in my 1998 Z28 is going all the way up to max on the gauge (engine not even warmed up). It starts out with a normal rise but continues to max. I read the temp through a scanner and the temperature is normal. I heard that the temp sender supplies the computer and the gauge. If the computer is correct I would think the sender is good. Bad gauge? Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Did you recently put fluid in?

I'd look at the wires/connector at the ECT sensor first. Fairly cheap and easy to replace the sensor, make sure you get one for a '98.

temperature gauge
I did just drain and add fluids. I thought that was the answer (air pocket) but I let it run for several days thinking it would burp out. I take a good look at connectors and wires.

Red Tint Jewelcoat- 2008 Trailblazer SS
I am kinda confused.
It starts out with a normal rise? That would mean the motor is warming up normal right?
But you said it isn't warmed up....
1998's were one of the few LS1 F-Body's with a fairly accurate stock temp. gauge. I can't say if it is sender or gauge. Dealer maybe? Or local LS1 tuning shop that can plug in some tuning software and read the temp the ECU sees.
