Temp gauge bottomed out and now she won't start

Hey y'all, longtime reader 1st time posting. I will get straight to it. I have an 02 ws6 which is my baby but I am stumped.

Went out to start the car this morning and all that happens when you turn the key is a rapid clicking. There's no turnover at all but it seems to have power because jumper cables didn't help when I hooked them up and everything else still powers up. Also not sure if it is related but my last day driving it the temp gauge was not reading on the dash. I drove it around the block to test the new rack and pinion and when I got home the fans were running and the engine temp was at 0. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

check on the drv's side head near #1 cyl. The temp sensor is located between the exhaust runner & the back of the ps pump reservoir. Make sure it's connected and not broken or cracked.

Starting I would pull the starter and have it checked. Could be the solenoid has died.

Could also just be a weak battery. Enough power to power lights, etc...just not start the car.
