tapping when stopped
i've noticed when i'm crusing around town when i come up to a red light and i'm at a complete stop, my car has a rapid tapping sound coming from underneith. it stops if i put it into nuetral or into park, so in other words, it only happens when in 'drive.' when i let go of the brake and the car gets into motion again the noise immediatly stops.
it won't happen everytime i'm stopped and doesnt seem to have anything to do with temperture or running time, seen some cadillacs and other random cars that have this problem too, what is it?

After thinking about this for a bit, here is what comes to mind. I have Headers and ORY. The ORY will bang slightly like this when in drive but, nothing to worry about.
If it is more of a tick, tick sound, then I would say you have a misfire from one of your cylinders. A dead cylinder will present itself this way and hard to detect under normal load since the 5.7 liter engine is so strong.
You should hear this also when in park so, if it happens in drive, I'd say its more of a slight pat on the ass when in the seat and probably coming from the ORY.
Which is it?

not sure what ORY is haha
DEFINATLY NOT a misfire, its only when i'm at a halt, it fades in and out randomly probably a heat shield thing, never thought about that. it does have aftermarket slp pipes installed... i guess i'd just have to have a friend stand on the brakes and have me get underneith, probably wont bother to do this until it gets cooler outside though ha

ch'yeah i know, not my choice, but thats just how it came, come to find out the k&n airfilter included with the slp lid doesnt even seal right
buuuuut i have a college budget so, whatev,
doesnt really sound like a mount, if you can roll your tongue like for spanish r's rrrrrrrrrrrr, it sounds like that but obviously waay more metallictinny sounding, just cruise with your windows down you'll find an older cadillac that does it, seems like everyone i'm next to has the problem too,
side note, i love your youtube vid, i'm freaking obsessed with it
