TA Headlight Motor

When I lock/unlock my car the headlights go up and when they go back down there is a very loud noise for 5 seconds or so. It sounds like a compressor recharging.

I know the lights are supposed to flip up like that when there is a problem. The last time, only one was popping up because the other motor was bad. Now they both pop up and then make this noise, which only comes from the driver's side. Could this still be the motor? Is there a good install doc anywhere for the motor?

Yeah, do a google search for something like "trans am headlight fix" You'll find several good explanations and a couple guys that sell the replacement part you may/may not need.

The nylon gears in the headlight motor are about as dependable as silly putty. They strip easily. You can fix it yourself (usually) the first time without a new part. I'm facing the second time this has happened on my driver-side headlight, which means I'll have to buy a replacement gear if I want to fix it this time. Go to a dealer and they'll try to charge you something like $150 + $150 for the part (entire new motor) and install.
