The t-top thing happened to me in my 2000 SS Camaro (sold)... i was going to pick up my new corvette rims/tires on a beautiful day with the tops off and in the back... when i got to the meeting place i set the tops back on so i can load the tires... i didnt latch them because i thought i might have room to take them back off once the tires were in... needless to say there was no room and i must have been so excited about these new rims i forgot to latch both tops... so after getting up to 70 on the highway i hear a whoosh and look over and my passenger side top is gone... i went to reach for the drivers one to latch it before it blew away but as i was reaching up it too blew away... both shattering into a million pieces...

next day went to a local junk yard who had like 15 to choose from and i got both for $100 in perfect condition... just letting you know there are more dummies out there too... haha

haha, does seem like a common problem for us ls1 owners who get too excited and forget to latch them back down

Because of the threads I've read on this forum, I always double check when putting my T-tops back on and lock'em. Always

Damn!!! And I thought that shit only happened on the east coast!!

As for the T-tops, someone should start making caution tape-style decals that say "DO NOT TOUCH" or "NOT AN "OH SHIT" HANDLE!!"

I must have lost 4 or 5 over the years in my 95, 98, and 02. One was from the dealership (my 98) drove it off the lot and gone ! I still have a spare from the last set I bought. BTW the last time I locked em ... damn can't remember.

They get about 50 to 60 feet up sometimes !

Had this very thing happen almost when I took a girl for a ride the other day. She went to put her hand on the t-top handle and said "what's this". I almost flipped out and quickly told her to NOT touch that handle and proceeded to tell her why.

    I about had a heart-attach.

I usually keep them locked, and they very well might have been locked that day, but it still freaked me out
