    Switch from 10w30 to 5w30..now...

So its about time for an oil change in the next weekish or so... Im having a low oil pressure at 180-210 degrees. It has dropped all the way to 15 (hot idle) and it never dropped under 25 when on 10w30. Ive got great cold OP Its almost 80 or above.

Im going back to 10w30 and I dont really know much about viscosity. What would be a good grade of oil that helps with higher temps... as soon as I get some cash(painting the hood. new thermostat.. new tranny soon... etc etc etc) Im going to put on a oil cooler.

Often times the 5-30 is thicker at operating temps than a 10-30 due the VI. 10-30 is a more stable viscosity and less shearing occurs. I would AutoRX that beast firstly....follow the instructions to a "T".....then go 10-30 year round.....

Your oil pressure is 80PSI at cold idle?
Then drops to 15PSI at warm idle?

    Get yourself an oil pump.

It didnt start doing it till I changed oil viscosities. I dont know much about ls1 pumps and shims/springs etc tho. If I do tear into the engine I will throw in a small cam as well as a ls6 oil pump. I know my truck has way over 200,000 and it never gets below 40psi... even at 212. but it has a newer oil pump...
