Swapped in a 6.0 in 1999 TA
1Badbird just swapped a 6.0 liter in his T/A, he's having idleing issue's. Any thing got to be done now that the swap is complete? Use the stock intake, and pulleys. Is there things we dont know as far as tunning??

Not sure what your question is - do you mean you are tuning it but still have idle problems or does it need to be tuned?

Needs a tune. All there is to it.
What has been done as far as tuning?

Definately needs a tune. I just did this myself. Also it may help to mess with the throttle plate adjustment screw or drilling a small hole into the TB plate to allow more airflow at idle to stabilize it

Thanks, i havent been here a while. I will see if he know's that. He has one of them hand held tunner's to adjust timing, and rev limit, that all i know. He swapped the engine, and installed his 5.7 intake, and injectors, TB, oil pan, and pulleys'. I was thinking it need to be tunned, or something dew to the bigger eng. Who can tune it near Augusta, GA?

Don't drill a whole in the throttle body blade!!!! With a PROPER tune it is not necessary. Find somebody with HP Tuners, EFI Live etc....

some tuners actually recommend a hole to be drilled depending on the engine. I would go to the tuner first and see what he thinks. Like I said it depends on the tuner. I know mine recommends it and it helps alot with idle especially when you have a stroker

^^^^^^^^I have never seen a PROFESSIONAL tuner do this. I HAVE seen guys pop in a cam in their garage and then are not proficient enogh with their HP Tuners software go this route.....
Where is Frost when you need him......

My tuner is a professional but like I said it depends on the preference of some tuners. I also do know of some professional engine builders that will drill and port TB's for idle stability.
Can't see it well but here's an image from high performance pontiac

Probably just needs a freshening up on the tune. Messing with the IAC counts could help slightly, but there is no way it will completely cure the idling problem. Find a decent tuner.

DON'T DRILL YOUR TB! This is a holdover from back in the day. I would hope this is not still being done by any tuners.
This thread is too generalized to do anything but speculate at unfortunately.

I have a question. I have a guy who has a 6.0L vortec out of a 2000 escalade. He is selling the heads. Will the heads fit on a LT-1 or LS1.

317 casting then? Yes they will bolt up to a LS1. They flow well. Downside is they have a 72CC chamber that will drastically lower your compression, that will result in a much lower power output. The gains you will see from the nice flowing casting will greatly be diminished from the large chamber size. A heavy mill will want to be done to bring the CR back up, and at that time, you'll be at or above the cost of stock 243 casting heads.
