    Stripped O2 Threads advice

I was removing original O2 sensors from the downpipe/header today and believe it or not, the threads came out with the O2 sensor. There are no threads left to thread the new sensor into.

Do I need a special high temp heli-coil replacement or will generic repair kits work.

    Thanks!

I would goto an exhaust shop, have them cut out the O2 bung, then weld in a new one.

that would probably be your easiest option. Most shops would charge you next to nothing to do that I bet.

You can buy 02 bungs at our local parts store here for $2.00 each,,,,(includes the plug),,,I have a box full of them for my wide band.

It would be easy as suggested to cut out the old and weld in a new one. It's an 18mm thread if that helps at all,,,,maybe enough material is left to run a tap through?

Think it would be ok to run around with an open bunghole whilst I look for a tighter bunghole?

Got a new bung installed for $40. He even R&R the other bad O2 and replaced the mucked up one.

    Good to go!

    Thanks!
