    Strange sound coming from brakes...

Car is a 1999 Camaro SS

Well i just got brand new stock pads all around as well as all the rotors resurfaced 5 months ago. just recently when i step on the brakes it will make a sound, not a squeak but just a sound of friction. nothing bad or high pitched, it just caught my attention b/c it never used to do this. i know the pads are not already worn out b/c they are brand new. the sound is almost just like a psssss sound, like a sound of soft pad sliding against metal. what could this be?

Probably cheap pads...what kind did you put on?? I usually don't turn rotors....kinda pointless IMO. You can buy brand new ones at autozone fairly cheap...like $40, especially because when you turn them it makes the rotor weaker and they tend to warp easier.

doesn't sound like anything to worry about. New pads, new rotors=new sounds.

could be that they were not broken in properly. some pads need to get a couple cycles of light braking in before you can hit them hard. A friend of mine got the same brake setup I have (Hawk HPS pads on powerslot rotors) and noticed a grinding noise that i don't. Long story short: if you're stopping, the brakes aren't getting really hot, and you aren't tearing anything up, i wouldnt worry about it.
