thanks for all the info cammed goat. I installed a stock replacement pump. havent looked at the car in a week so I am no further that before. Just wondering, do you need to purge the fuel rail with the pump on to bleed out air?

no need to purge. Just key on the ignition for 2 seconds, off for a few seconds, and then back on for 2 seconds. That should be enough to build up some fuel pressure and start the car on the next crank.

I have this funny feeling your car may only accept a dealer pump. I was reading all the info about how the F-bodies don't take kindly to OEM pumps and I was like "WOW!!!"

Good News Good News!!! The Trans Am is finally running again. I don't think the pump was bad after all. After replacing the fuel pump she still wouldn't start. I think it was the crank position sensor instead. After replacing that I got my fire back and she started right up. I went ahead and replace the relays to just in case. Thanks to all who gave their help in this thread. I'm just glad she is running again and that it didn't cost me any more than the 200 I spent already.

    Navy Blue Metallic
    98 T/A w/a little mods...

It is on the passenger side of the block. You will have to remove the starter to gain access to it.
