Still wont start after fuel pump install

Ok I am at a loss. Thought the fuel pump was bad in the 2000 WS6 but after installing and rechecking everything the car still won't start. I have check all fuses and I changed the fuel filter also.

    Anyone have any idea please

Is the car cranking, just not starting? Even without a scan tool there's some things you can check here: www.gearchatter.com/viewtopic8945.php

What made you think the pump was bad, was there no pressure?

Relay is pretty common to go out as mentioned. It's under the hood with the other fuses, I think.

Do you hear the pump "whine" when you first turn the key?

Relay is located in a plastic block, in the lower right hand corner under the hood.

I would start with checking all ignition related relays. It's easy to swap them out to find a bad one -- just borrow one from a non-ignition system, like the AC, headlights, or whatever may be identical. Did you happen to check the fuel pressure at the rail since installing the new pump? Any chance your VATS bypass has gone awry?

oh and yes you can hear the pump run for about 2 seconds when you turn the key.

redid the vats just to make sure and its still the same. I am leaning towards crank position sensor since I have no spark. I can hear the racetronics pump prime so I assume its ok.

Probably stands for "Vehicle Anti Theft System" or something. It's the chip embedded in the ignition key that always seems to frog up and then the car won't start. Lots of guys run a bypass with a resistor that you can buy at Radio Shack. You just have to match it to the resistance of your ignition key for it to work.

Something isn't right with the fuel system if...

How did you test spark? With a tester or old-school-hold-it-to-the-block?

Also, I might be wrong on this, but if the crank position sensor is bad/not working, dont you still get a spark?

My car did something similar last year. It would crank but it wouldn't fire, no codes/lights, fuel pump would prime. I started swapping relays it fired right up. I swapped the relays back just to confirm and it still started like nothing had ever been wrong. No idea what was wrong with it but it hasn't had a hiccup since. Maybe yours is special in a special sort of way like mine.

Old school with a screwdriver next to the plug wire (unplugged of course)
