    just reading my manual book and it was mention about adding shims on the starter....I never had shims on the previous starter. Do you think I may need shims with the new starter?

    Did the old starter you took off have shims with it? if so you need to install them back on. Its pretty critical the starter contacts the flywheel where its supposed to.
