    Stainless Steel hose swap

    I am getting ready to replace all my hoses with stainless steel ones. I was just wondering if there was somewhere I could look up the internal diameters or the AN measurement of all of them so I don't have to pull everything apart to measure them. I am getting my hoses from "Silicone Intakes", and am curious if anyone has bought hoses from them and if they are good quality or not. Thanks in advance.

    For diameter references, I have a feeling you will have to go to something like Alldata. Did you try GMPartsdirect or any of the sponsors to see if they have listed hose diameters? Actually, call Jeg's or Summit. They should know.

    Thanks, I'll have to check with some of them. Also the AN measurement is a measurement of the internal diameter right? Or is it the total diameter?

    I am tempted to say internal diameter.

    *-02 AN is equal to 1/8 in.
    * -03 AN is equal to 3/16 in.
    *-04 AN is equal to 1/4 in.
    * -06 AN is equal to 3/8 in.
    * -08 AN is equal to 1/2 in.
    *-10 AN is equal to 5/8 in.
    * -12 AN is equal to 3/4 in
    *-14 AN is equal to 7/8 in.
    *-16 AN is equal to 1 in.
    * -20 AN is equal to 1 1/4 in.
    * -24 AN is equal to 1 1/2 in.
    *-32 AN is equal to 2 in.

    AN sizes range from -2 (dash two) to -32 in irregular steps, with each step equating to the OD (outside diameter) of the tubing in 1/16" increments. Therefore, a -8 AN size would be equal to 1/2" OD tube (8 x 1/16 = 1/2). However, this system does not specify the ID (inside diameter) of the tubing because the tube wall can vary in thickness. Each AN size also uses its own standard thread size.

    Thanks! Well I asked both Jegs and Summit and they said they had no clue on the sizes for the hoses.

    Try looking up replacement parts from maybe napa and getting hose size. Another way is just pull them, measure and replace lost fluid with water untill your ready for ss hoses.

    I think I will just measure them. Another question though, could i replace my pcv hose with stainless steel hoses?

    Yes, however the steel wrap will make the hose way to rigid, besides the asthetic (sp) value, there is no reason to use high pressure hose for the PCV system.

    but it won't hurt anything right? I wouldn't think so. I just figure if I am going to change my hoses out, I might as well change that out.

    I am by no means an expert on anything automotive, it should not "hurt" anything, the only thing I experienced in my 1976 straight six camaro is that one end of the stainless hose would loosen and fall off the male receptical, even when clamped.
