    Spark plug wire heat shield

Im considering getting new spark plug wires to go with the plugs for my header install...im looking into a set of msd wires...my question is will i need to pull the heat shields off my stock wires and put them on the new msd's or will it be fine without? just curious about this is all, and dont want to melt wires on the new headers

I reused them with my MSDs and I have heard many people say to do so. I have heard many reasons for doing so with many of them not being that they will melt but to reduce the EMI interference. Either way you can’t go wrong with reusing them to be safe. I have seen a ton of people run without them and have zero problems. Your call I guess.

No heat shields on mine for 5 years now, no issues, but mine isn't a DD either.

    I have the 8.5mm Superconductor's.

I trashed mine years ago... I figured if they were wet, it would help jump a spark to ground...

Same here. Got rid of them when I threw the MSDs on. Never had a problem. Just make sure your wires aren't touching your exhaust and you'll be fine.

I installed a set of DEI Protect-A-Boots on ours when the headers and MSD wires went in. Seemed like cheap insurance at the time and I have not had a problem.
