smoke/steam coming from cowl area

when i have the a/c on and the car in gear (a4) there is a steam or smoke coming from the back of the engine up past the firewall........it does not seem to have a smell and the minute i shut off the a/c it goes away......any ideas?

Condensation, Its hitting your exhaust and and just evaporating.
Nothing to worry about, its normal.
Your condesnor gets cold and it "sweats" and the water just drops onto, your exhaust or motor and goes away.
