I saw a lid shootout some years ago and the SLP was 1 or 2 on the list.

SLP's lid is good if it fits.
Of course, they didn't design it.

It was in the top of the lineup if I remember correctly.
I've found hood rubbing issues have more to do with the car itself.....hood & core supports fit differently from car to car.

There have been times when I've used a cut down socket myself. (not on an LS1)
Handy as hell if you need one, $30 for one is insane, but I wouldn't call it a POS.

My SLP lid is the 1st generation one and it rubs and doesn't seal right when connected to the SLP smooth bellows. Even after trimming the bellows back, it still does not seat properly. Also, the flanges needed to be "ovaled" out when fitting up the SLP LM b/c the bolt spacing was off by about 1/8". I will never buy another thing from that company!

Mine doesnt rub at all and ive raised the whole assembly by almost half an inch. Doesnt close properly though its a little forward on the passenger side and sits perfect on the drivers side. As they say you get what you pay for and the SLP lid i got was cheap but for what it is im sure it flows much better then my stock one.
