SLP Blackwing factory lid vs aftermarket lid will there be any hp increase?

I have a factory slp blackwing lid and wanted to know if I got a aftermarket lid such as a mti lid or something like that will i see a h.p. upgrade? After looking at my blackwing and looking at a aftermarket I see that the after market lid hooks straight up to the maf where my blackwing has a little rubber boot that hooks up to the lid then to the maf it starts out flat then forms to the maf where the other lid is the shape of the maf from the beginning of the lid was wonding if this caused the blackwing to flow less and loss h.p.? thanks guys for any help

not sure what you mean by " hooks right up to the MAF" there has to be a filter somewhere in there first, Just a bit confused about that. Any pics. Honestly the less turbulance the air has coming in the more hp.. less curves sharp turns, more hp, colder air ,,....more hp. I wouldnt think there would be a big difference between the two hoods if you are using the same filter and intake system. if one "hooks up better" is in with a better seal for ram air, you may see more hp there b/c it pressure charges the system, if i haad pics I could tell you much better. What type of intake sytem are you using, we can go from there.....

i was saying that that aftermarket one lid hooks straight to mass air flow sensor with out a boot like on the blackwing lid im post the pic for u to compare pic one with slp lid see how it hooks straight to the m.a.f.\ pic to blackwing see the lil boot from the lid and how it goes from oval to the actual form of the m.a.f.

I can't see there being much of differnance if any as the shape of both lids are nearly identicle. And both are made SLP, the black wing lip is manufactures to look and be factory, where as the SLP lip that most are familure with is manufactured to be cheap and look after market.

This leads to another question, where would one get the black wing set up? I like it better then an aftermarket lid.

There won't be a difference but the Black Wing lids seem to sell for $300+ and you can get an aftermarket for under $100. So you could make an easy $200+ to use towards other mods!

I am retarded, i was thinking you were talking about hoods as you can read from my post,...dont ask me why becasue I have no idead except that I am retarded. IMO I would say its not going to make a difference. What may make a diff is if you go with the K&N FIPK system for the trans am. Its proven to add 14.74 hp.....http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...Prod=57-3022-2

K&N and slp are known for overstating gains. keep the blackwing.

yeah i agree with the over statement, but with the k & n you have more filter surface area, and the flow is less turbulant...... if your keeping the black wing at least get a flat K&N filter for it.

IMO keep the Blackwing. You won't find a better made lid. Seals perfectly also.

That Blackwing is a piece of junk.
Go buy an aftermarket lid & sell the Blackwing to me, as I need another one

what did the blackwing come on?

does it have the fins on the inside of it like the stock factory lid has or is it smooth inside like the slp?

and finally...what's the big whoop about it?
