    Slow starts

Recently my car has been having problems starting. It always starts but it seems like it has to turn over alittle more than usual before it starts. Twice now I have had the car off with the radio going for 10-15 min then went to start it and the engine turned over very slowly and just kept turn over before it finally started. The first time it did that I went and put the battery charger on it but the charger showed it was fully charged. Then it happened again the other day. Anyone have any ideas? I'm thinking maybe some corrosion on the terminals or bad battery wires. I live in an apartment that frowns on working on your car in the parking lot so I have't had time or a place to get under there and look into it.

Have the battery "load tested" - most auto parts stores will do it free. How old is the battery? I'm in Florida and on my third since new w/only 25K. Won't hurt to check your connections too...

The battery is about 3 years old.

Well if it's not the battery, I'd start looking at the connections. Also, I've never had a car that the starter went out in, could that be a possibility?

If it turns over but does not fire it might be a fuel issue. Try leaving the key in the on position just a few seconds longer than normal and if you stop having the problem it is probably the fuel pump taking a little longer to pressure the system. This could the fuel filter or the pump.

I'm not ruling anything out at this point but when it turns over its really slow like a dead battery not like its not getting fuel. Sometimes it seems like there's just enough juice to start it.

Well in that case you may want to get the battery load tested at your local AutoZone, Advance, etc... It may show a full 12volts and say charged on the charger but not function properly under a load. Maybe you have a battery from another car you can use for a week or so since the problem is intermitent.
