Skip shift helps MPG?
Just curious for those who use skip shift and who disabled it. Does it really help your MPG? Because in city I'm getting 15-18MPG.

I'm guessing it helps, I have never used it. I wait for the light to turn off then put it in 2nd. Some worthless thing gm could have done without, atleast for us drivers who actually use the car for more than getting from point a to point b.

Mines disabled, but I will skip gears now, and then cause I am lazy and I can. I realy doubt that any gains or losses for not having it are pretty minimal. I've tried the 1-4 shift and to me it seem to bog the motor a bit, negating any savings.
1-3-4 shits are fine though.

No one has actual tests? Anyone have a write up for disabling it?

A few ways to do it. tune it out with a tuner, get an elimination kit from a sponsor or search for the resistor mod. or better known as the !CAGS mod.

The skip shift allowed the F-Body and Corvette to avoid a gas guzzler tax by increasing city mileage during the EPA city driving cycle. It doesn't work very well unless you drive like the EPA tests are set up.
