Custom Swirly Black- 2001 WS6 M6
Shift Light Install, easy questions
Not sure where this belongs, as there are a few questions I have for this install. I purchased a dual shift light, launch light and shift light combo. It has 4 wires to hook up, ground [black], + [red], VSS (vehicle speed sensor) [white] and tach output [green].
My first question is how easy is it to remove the vent direction blade assembly for the heat/ac vents? I messed with it for a few and didn't want to stress it too hard. Is there a trick to it? I know it's a popular place for people to place gauges and I'm hoping to hide my shift light behind one of them.
2nd(ish), which is sad to say I dont know, where is the PCM located? How many wire harnesses are hooked up to it? This is where the Tach output is located correct? Is it still the red connector, PIN 10, white wire (courtesy Hi-Po gauge install thread) for my '01?
3rd(ish), The instructions for the hook up for the white wire, are to connect to "the vehicle speed signal (VSS) output from the ECU." Digging through the Haynes repair manual, in the wiring diagram sections, I found "VSS SIG OUT" from the PCM to "instrument cluster system" colored "DRK GRN/WHT". Would this be the correct one, since it's not from the ECU? There are 4 other DRK GRN/WHT wires on the same page of the Haynes manual, so when the manual has wires coming out of the PCM, is it making a generalization for the PCM, as it has several wiring harness? Or are they some what organized in the manual? Anyone have an idea which wire harness this is apart of?
Any/all help is greatly appreciated, I'm hoping to do a write up of it afterwords as well. Thanks ahead of time.

The engine compartment CPU MP unit is located (looking from the front of the car to the rear) in the left side corner,,,its a gray white box with I believe 2 main large connectors,,,
Find the white wire,,.,its the tach single wire,.,.run a wire connected from this down and thru the fire wall thru a rubber chunk that reveals a hole in the firewall.,,,then route the wire up to where u need it,,use yur head,,
thats about it,,other then providing gound and power conections,,

I used a pure white wire for the extension,,,dark green and white is the tach wire,,splice into it
