SES light, A.I.R. code?
So my SES light came on my 38k mile 2000 TA and I took it to Autozone to get them to run the code. The code came up with an A.I.R. system problem. Wasnt too specific. Only mods I have are a flowmaster muffler. Guy at the store told me my CATS were probably clogged. Im thinking with 38k miles they shouldnt be.
What are some common problems with the AIR or what would cause it to trip the code? He reset it for me but I'd still like to figure out what the problem is. My car does backfire a little when I first start it up and its cold. Only when I just start out and rev over 3500rpm. It backfires when I let off the gas. Gives a little crackle crackle pop.
Any clues?

There are several different AIR codes, do you remember the code number? Could be something as easy as a clogged air check valve - I've had P1416 before and it's pretty common. Something you could check while waiting for it to come on again is the AIR PUMP fuse under the hood, if it's open that'll throw an AIR code (P0412) too. The exact code will nail it down.

It's just an AIR code so OK to drive the car and won't affect performance. If it returns post the number, or you can look it up the description/diagnostics at gearchatter.com

No problem this is a small town and we help other f-body owners out. I have had some friends help me big time with my clutch issues. If I don't know my friend probably does. He's broken alot along the way to the low 11 sec times.
