I change the rear 02 sensor and it came back up after i cleared the code. I then switch back my old 02 and took out the new one. Went to GM and had them look at the cat. Cat is no good and they are gonna warranty it..

Here are some pics of the bad cat.. hope this helps..

See this is awesome, info like this is why I love these forums.

I called my Pontiac dealer today about my cats, he ran the vin and said my car missed the 8 year restriction by a month. (2/29/08 made 8 years old, according to the VIN)

I told him to check again, that I was pretty sure they extended the warranty to 10years/120k. He checks, and is like "wow, you're right! Ok, bring it in, we'll take care of it for you".

I wonder how many people paid for cats that should have gotten them free.

My '99 just had the light come on this weekend. Should I take it to the dealer and have them cover it? So far, the oldest car I have seen reply was a 2000, however if GM did extend it to 10 years mine should be covered. I only have 42K miles so I am well below that threshold.
If GM will cover mine, I am going to take it in this week. Now only if they would cover my cracked door panels.

Just talked to the Pontiac service rep and he said that GM is only covering F-body's from year 2000-2002. I can't believe that, what is the difference b/t the 98-99 and the 00-02 F-body's? What a rip off.

Yeah, the extended warranty only applies to the 00-02 F-cars.
