    SES light after exhaust fix

I just had a header leak fixed this morning. The leaking clamp was removed and the exhaust was welded close to the front/right O2 sensor, where the SLP header meets the SLP off road Y pipe. Immediately the SES light came on, and it has not been on since I have had the car. What caused the light to go off now? Did the weld have something to do with it?

I had the code checked at Advance and it said it was the 1-4 shift circuit was malfunctioning. I remember removing some electrical tape from a connector under the car while it was jacked up having the exhaust worked on. Could there have been a resistor taped to the connector? It looked like it hooked up to the drivers side of the transmission. They cleared the code, and it worked until I started the car up again. How do I fix this?

sounds like the skip shift solenoid. Go under your tranny. Check the connectors on the drivers side and check your connections. The skip shift solenoid is towards the front of the transmission closest to the engine. If I were you, just disable the skip shift but first check the wire and make sure there's no tears or breaks. Check especially by the area you removed the tape. Then go to radio shack and get a 2.2k 1/2 watt resistor it's only $0.50. Unplug the connector and on the female end, bend the resistor into a U shape and insert the ends into the female end. Tape up both ends and zip tie the wires out of the way. Walla, problem fixed and that annoying skip shift is gone. If that doesn't fix it, check your O2 sensor as well. SOmetimes excessive heat ie. welding close to the O2 will damage it

sweet. I believe you had skipshift in their before and when you pulled the tape out, you pulled out the resistor as well. Most likely that was the case. Glad you fixed it bro!
