a misfire can be caused by many diff. things, everyone usually starts with the ingnition side of things, like the sparkplugs, wires, coil packs, etc, but there are many things it could be. this is a very common problem and one of the most challenging things to diagnose. good luck

My first thought is I'd be more worried about the two front 02's not showing ANY activity at all. P0306 (guessing) might be a loose/bad plug or wire, or it's arcing on the header (especially if the headers are SLP) buddy of mine had the same problem - we found it by starting the car in the dark. Secondary AIR codes won't hurt - do your new headers have AIR provisions/maybe you blocked them off/removed your AIR? Just my thoughts...it would be better to post the actual codes so more knowledgeable people than me can help you better.

haha, i am experiencing that right now. your not gonna like this and i hope this is nt whats wrong with yours. i am currently putting a new block in mine. yeah ouch. the cylinder ring is bad or something, anyways the engine has to be pulled and im just swapping blocks. yeah i went through all the trouble and money of changing plugs wires, coil packs, and injectors!!! had many diagnostics done finally figured it out. yes if you have a misfire you will have a rough idle if its bad enough. also mine smoked a little every now and then and started to really eat up some oil.

and without a doubt you will notice a loss of power, mine got weak as hell. also a misfire can be caused by broken valve springs, head gaskets, bent pushrods, etc. the way to rule out between the two is go to a pretty reputable diagnostic guy and tell him what all you have done and if you have ruled out all ignition problems (and by the way it would be a good idea to fix the o2 problems cuz that can sometimes throw wild codes) to tell him to do a compression test, then pressurize the block if air or exhaust comes out the top around the valves then it s in the valvetrain if it comes out the exhaust then..... well.... thats what mine did. you dont want that.

i have not experineced any of that
it idles smooth
no smoking
i checked on the plug wire and it wasnt in all the way, it clicked when i pushed it in
so i went and reset the SES light and im waiting for it to come back on to see if the misfiring part is fixed
i hope that was the solutionLast edited by adham; 01-03-2006 at 05:37 PM.

Yes I think you just had a loose connection there-it clicked back on the plug and that should be that-it would have immediately reset the light. As far as the air pump-you can hear it run if you've changed the airlid when the engine is just started when cold-and as stated previously-you have to check if it's been plumbed correctly and what not.You should be concerned about your oxygen sensors working correctly because your engine cannot run properly w/out them. You will lose power and gas mileage and driveability.Check for shorted wires as previously stated .

OK -i dont have a code key right now-its at work-but I'm sure someone will be along shortly with the answers. On some of these codes there is actually more than one good answer to what to do about it.In other words don't be surprised if you don't replace the right parts at first-it's not always as cut and dried as it would seem to be.

i just got the codes checked again after resetting it
the misfire on cylinder 6 is gone!!
the plug wire wasnt in all the way
also, the two 02 sensors are fine now, those codes did not show up either
the only thing that showed up was the secondary air injection system malfunction which is not a big deal at all
