SES after WOT
I'm looking at buying a 99 Z28 A4 with 61k on it, while test driving it I kicked it down from 20mph or so to about 75mph or just after shifting into second, engine sounds strong, there's no pings, oil leaks, piston slap, clicking, I mean this thing seems mint, until it throws an SES code just after the second time I floor it, the guy says it's because it was in storage and had sta-bil in the fuel tank, says that the exhaust system is running hot or something like that and is causing the o2 sensor to throw an SES code, happens to him every year he takes it out of storage but it goes away after awhile/burns through the STA-BIL. I just wanted to know if anyone is familiar with this happening or if it smells like B.S., it sounds kind of fishy to me i haven't had this problem with any cars that i have kept in storage with a fuel stabilizer, thanks for all your help I'm am very eager to buy an fbody LS1 but don't want to get screwed over in the process.

Go for another test drive and stop in at some place like Auto Zone and have the code read.

Auto Zone will read codes free, but if he has a Predator even easier.

It's probably nothing if the car has indeed been in storage, but it would be nice to know what code it's setting.
