Service Engine Soon Light.engine Code No.7missfire
I need HELP. My 2000 Trans Am with 52,000 miles on it has the service engine soon light on. I checked the code and it says no. 7 missfire. I replaced all plugs, wires and coils and still is doing it. We had a LOT of rain and this started happening after I was out in it. ANY ideas please let me know.

I'm thinking it could be due to moisture somewhere between the plug, wire, and coil pack. Making sure everything's dry would be my first guess.

Not insulting you, but did you clear the code after replacing everything? Are the plug wires on nice and tight? I just had a misfire problem myself, ended up being a combination of plug #8 and the precat o2 sensor bank 2....
How rough is the car running?

If you bent a pushrod from over-reving (spinning in the rain) I don't see why you can't just replace the pushrods.. ?
Other Guys that know more then I may have a different opinion... But IF that's all that's damaged... Just replace them ? Whole lot less expensive than a new/rebuilt/used block.

I'm thinking he means a piston rod is bent.
He was out in the rain,,,and I'm guessing he must have sucked up some water through the intake system,,,and hydralocked the #7 cylinder...

Josh68, you're not alone. We have seen 5 engines with bent rods in our shop here since the big midwest rain/flood deal started. Also had at least 2 other cars that got lucky and suck in a little water and stalled, but no bent rods.
Maybe your insurance will cover it???

Thanks for all your help. Insurance is going to cover it which is great. Im having my 4th kid and it has been hard just to keep the car. Do you guys know is a new GM crate motor Ls1 have more horsepower than a 2000 ls1? I know it is a dumb question but someone said that the new gm motors were more hp than the old ones. I dont see why it would be but maybe.
